Albert Bartlett Edinburgh Marathon
Lucozade Sport were the official sports nutrition partner to the Edinburgh Marathon Expo and Marathon, held annually in the Scottish capital. The Expo took place on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th of May at the Next Generation Fitness Health Club in Leith. Each runner attended the Expo to register and pick up their Runners Pack and were provided with a chance to visit the Lucozade Sport Performance Zone (LSPZ) where they could pick up a free pace band, check their predicted race time and purchase the entire range of Lucozade Sport products, to assist them in their run, the Lucozade Sport Carbo gels proving a popular choice. A new course this year began on Regent Road near to the centre of the city and would finish at Musslebrough Race Course. 6000 runners participated in the full marathon and 2,400 people took part in a 4 person relay race. The finish area was packed with family and friends to welcome runners crossing the line. The course was made even tougher by a strong blowing wind which even forced the LSPZ located at the finish line to be taken down early to ensure the safety of participants was observed. There was however two Lucozade Sport Vans with Sports Scientists on hand to provide marathon recovery advice and plenty of warm down mats and bean bags were available for runners to stretch out on. A Lucozade Sport representative also took part in the presentation ceremony by presenting the trophies to first Scottish Male and first Scottish Female.
