Top Tips
- 5k is a great distance for anyone who is new to running and also for those wanting to build pace for longer events.
- Don’t be afraid to walk for short periods at the beginning of your training. Be gentle on yourself, especially if you are new to running.
- Develop a regular routine of running little and often. Try and avoid only training the week before an event as this will do you no favours on the day.
- Make sure you start hydrated maybe using a sports drink like Lucozade Sport Hydro Active as this contains not only fluid, but also essential electrolytes.
- If you have been running for a while and want to get a bit quicker, why not try to introduce some tempo running; this will include running at a faster but more manageable pace for longer duration.
