- Over the summer the British and Irish Lions will be touring South Africa, a well publicised Lions squad was announced last week, and again with so many injuries occurring it seems to be all over the place. At our rugby visits we get so many questions about the demands of rugby and crucially what the environment will be like in SA. During this tour they will be playing games at an altitude of 1,500 - 1,600 m, sweat losses of 1.3 to 2.8 litres per 90-minute training session and temperatures ranging from 24-29ºC.

With such huge demands placed on the human body how can Sport nutrition play a role in maximising performance in such an environment? Has your team played abroad or in severe environments and how has your team coped in the conditions?
