Last night I got a text from my best friend asking me if I wanted to go to the Christian Louboutin exhibition at the London Design Museum, and wondering aloud if we'd get away with swiping a pair for ourselves when we visited. Most unfortunately, I don't think we'd get away with the designer footwear equivalent of Grand Theft Auto, but as she probably already knew when she sent me that message I had already been planning on visiting the exhibition myself at some point.
Ever since I was given my first book of Manolo Blahnik shoe illustrations (I own every edition) and saw how the illustration of one of my mothers Manolos both corresponded and differed from the illustration, I have been fascinated by shoe design. Aside from seeing so many beautiful shoes with the iconic red sole (I really can't wait to own my own pair sometime in the distant future), I'm looking forward to seeing the design process all broken down, as the exhibition takes us from the prototype being made, through every factory process to the finished result that you can find in the worlds biggest and best department stores.
Lucozade Revive is giving away tickets to the Design Museum to see the Christian Louboutin and Designs of the Year exhibitions later in the month - keep an eye on our Twitter feed for more details.
Christian Louboutin is showing at the London Design Museum until 9th July. Find out more here.
