Usually, I get really annoyed and frustrated when something big like the Royal Wedding comes along and the shops fill up with what I think are quite tacky memorabilia which no one in their right mind would buy if it was not associated with whatever event is being hyped at the time, but I have been pleasantly surprised with the things some of our favourite high street stores have been coming out with recently, with an all British theme to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and London hosting the 2012 Olympics this Summer. I recently took delivery of this beautiful union jack scarf from Next which is really soft, and will look fantastic either on the beach, hung up as an alternative flag or my personal favourite, round my neck to who my support for all things red, white and blue!
I love the idea that everyone is encouraged to have street parties to celebrate with their neighbours, as we did for the Royal Wedding last year. I have great memories of afternoon tea in the sunshine on the lawn in front of Canterbury Cathedral last year. You can't go wrong with traditional Union Jack bunting (has anyone seen how beautiful and patriotic Oxford Street looks at the moment now all the flags and bunting has been put up?) and I also adore these matching cups!

Crockery wise, I always love Emma Bridgwater's unique and quirky designs, and I love the Diamond Jubilee crockery design she has created. I love this personalised plate. You can have it painted with whatever you want, but I think their 'Chocolate Digestive Ma'am?' motif is wonderful! Via Emma Bridgewater
Finally, if you want a traditional commemorative mug, but not of the mass production variety, they have a fantastic hand painted one that I would be happy to keep in my kitchen.

I hope you enjoy your Jubilee celebrations!
